SKIN TIGHTENING with
Radiofrequency Technology (RFT)

What is RFT?
Radiofrequency technology (RFT) is a new and exciting treatment for battling the visible signs of aging on the face and neck.  RFT is ideal for clients who either don't want, or don't believe they are old enough to have a surgical face-lift.

What areas can be treated by RFT?
RFT is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, and neck.  The treatment is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid 30's to 50's, of any skin color.

How does RFT tighten the skin?
RFT gently delivers energy waves to the deeper dermal and sub-dermal layers of the skin, while protecting the outermost epidermis. Heating in this area, without damaging the outer layers of skin, causes microscopic changes to the tissues and collagen contraction.  Subsequent 'collagen remodeling' occurs over the months that pass.
IN SUMMARY: RFT safely heats deeper layers of skin = microscopic collagen contraction and rebuilding = smoother, tighter skin.

What should I do before the treatment?
It would help if you arrive at our office with the skin cleaned of any makeup, moisturizer or lotions.  In the days leading up to the treatment, try NOT to do anything that will irritate your skin.  This would include the avoidance of: sunburns, chemical peels, Retin-A use, topical creams that irritate your skin.

Does the RFT treatment hurt?
No.  Although RFT delivers heat to the deeper layers of the skin, the majority of clients find it comfortable.  Clients with 'heat sensitive skin' may request topical numbing cream prior to the treatment.

How will I look after the treatment?
Your skin may be slightly pink/red following the treatment, which usually disappears quickly.  Your skin may also appear fuller or 'plumped up'. Most clients find that they can return to work and normal activities immediately after treatment.  Makeup can be applied a short time later.

How often should I repeat the treatment?
Our experienced staff will advise each person about their individual skin needs and potential results.  Generally...a series of 4-6 treatments is required for long-lasting results.  For best results: one treatment per week until your total number of recommended treatments are complete.

How much do treatments cost?

Under Eye Treatment - $95 per session
Face Treatment - $150 per session
Neck Treatment - $150 per session
Face & Neck Treatment - $250 per session

What are the risks and potential complications from RFT for skin tightening treatment?
The most frequently reported side effects of treatment with RF energy are mild swelling, and temporary redness.  Much less common, but possible, are bumps and blisters on or around the treated area, which typically disappear in a few days or weeks.

What should I do after an RFT treatment?
No special care is needed after treatment although we may suggest some of the following:
* Light application of soothing/moisturizing lotions, creams or gels to the treatment area,
* Cool water rinses or ice packs applied to the treatment area.

Who should NOT undergo RFT treatment?
As long as you are in good general health and do NOT have any skin diseases or infections in the treatment area, there are few medical reasons why clients should not undergo this treatment.  People with sensory disturbance to the skin may not be considered good candidates as this could make the reporting of discomfort during the procedure unreliable, leading to potential harm.
Although there is no evidence that this treatment is harmful for pregnant women, you would generally be advised to wait until after you have given birth before embarking upon a course of treatment.
More importantly, people with electrical devices e.g., pacemakers, or metal implants e.g., artificial metal hip joints, heart valves or dental plates, may NOT be treated because RF current flowing through the body may interfere with these devices or heat up metal implants, which could be dangerous.
